2024 – Mountains of Mayhem

Insatiable curiosity yielded a vessel equal in power and malice, birthing a beast of flame that now rages above and threatens our new home. To save what we hold dear, we must seek the skill and bravery found in the adventurer’s ilk: that of soldiers, sorcerers, and songwriters. We return above, and with their help, venture yet higher in search of salvation and a sense of order to the ensuing chaos.

Theme

Having inadvertently unearthed a deadly power from the ruins below, Aster, Billiam, and Quortney must now venture forth with the aid of our adventurers in search of a way to rectify their mistake. Perilous though our journey may be, gold and glory may yet be found!

The focal point for Aurawra 2024 is one of adventure, invoking aspects of tabletop and roleplaying games. Mountains of Mayhem’s theme grew from the concept of awakening an ancient power buried underground and challenging it with bigger, better (and perhaps cooler) powers!

This year we’re introducing two new characters to Aurawra’s Mascot Roster: Aurion, the Aspect of Order, and Rû, the Aspect of Chaos.

Fire and Ice were the inspirations behind the colour palette for this year. We invoke fiery reds and yellows juxtaposed against chilling blues and whites, representing the inharmonious nature of the two elements.

Aurawra Year Three: Mountains of Mayhem was hosted in 2024 on the 26th to 28th July at the Parkroyal Parramatta.
Our Guests of Honour were David Toons and Meroaw.
We had 966 unique furry registrants.
We raised $20,246 for our charity, Sydney Wildlife Centre.

Sydney Wildlife Centre was stoked to see the incredible generosity furries are capable of; they even named their new rescue after us! Meet Aurawra the Bat.

Guests of Honour

David Toons

David Toons is a freelance animator based in Sydney who’s known for animating for shows such as Helluva Boss, TheOdd1sOut & Ice Cream Sandwich, amongst many other YouTubers. Outside of his freelancing, he is known to animate memes primarily around Pokémon.

Gaia Meroaw

Meroaw is a furry illustrator and a complete dragon geek (keeping that coz i like it). In their spare time, they write and go for hikes! They cannot stop applying to cons, so you’ll probably see them around somewhere, somehow, in some place.
